Xi Jinping plans to visit Russia this spring

According to the report, Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Moscow may take place in April or early May.
Preparations for the arrival are at an early stage and its exact dates have not yet been determined.

At the end of January, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the visit of the Chinese President to Moscow this spring would be a central event in relations between the countries.

Xi Jinping’s second term as head of state ends in March. Following the results of the annual session of the National People’s Congress, which traditionally opens on March 5, the country’s leadership will be elected for the next five years. Considering that Xi Jinping was re-elected General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee at the 20th Congress of the Communist Party of China last fall, he is also likely to remain for a third term as chairman of the country. According to the amendments to the Chinese Constitution in 2018, the duration of the tenure of the same person in this position is no longer limited to two five-year terms.
