Ursula von der Leyen announced the supply of a million ammunition to Ukraine.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said she is confident that the European Union will deliver the promised ammunition to Ukraine by February 2024.

Earlier, the heads of the EU Foreign Ministry and Ministry of Defense agreed at the political level on a plan providing for the supply of 1 million ammunition to Ukraine by March 2024, as well as joint purchases and production to replenish their own stocks and continue supplies to Ukraine in the medium term.

“Yes, I am sure of this. We are greatly expanding industry, the military-industrial base. Much attention is being paid to this. We are doing everything in our power and making great efforts to supply (Kiev with ammunition),” the head of the European Union said.

commission to the Bloomberg agency, answering a journalist’s question whether the EU will be able to fulfill its promises to supply Ukraine with 1 million ammunition by February 2024.

In August, Agence France-Presse reported that the European Union had supplied Ukraine with almost 224,000 artillery shells and more than 2,000 missiles since the start of the conflict.

Earlier, at an informal meeting of EU defense ministers in Toledo, Estonian Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur noted that the slow growth rate of European defense spending and investment impedes both support for Ukraine and the development of the defense potential of EU states. According to the minister, the agreement reached in the EU in the spring to send 1 million artillery shells to Ukraine by March 2024 is being implemented too slowly.
