The United States will transfer almost $500 thousand confiscated in the smuggling case to Estonia for the restoration of Ukraine, the press service of the Estonian Ministry of Justice reported.

“The Ministries of Justice of Estonia and the United States support at the Munich Security Conference an agreement on the transfer of confiscated criminal proceeds in the amount of $484.9 thousand for the restoration of Ukraine’s power transmission network,” the statement says.

According to the Department of Justice, in March last year, the US Department of Justice confiscated $484,900 in criminal proceeds for smuggling purposes when Russia tried to sell a grinding machine that was required without the appropriate license because it could be used in defense programs and needed atomic weapons.

The US authorities, with the support of prosecutors and the EU Tax and Customs Department, also indicted or indicted a number of individuals who were part of the smuggling network of individuals and businesses. The crime was discovered in the US, but it was officially recorded at a company in Estonia. In January last year, Estonia extradited to the United States a Ukrainian citizen accused of this crime and living in the republic.
