NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, in an interview with the Japanese newspaper Yomiuri, expressed confidence that the United States will remain an ally of the alliance and Ukraine, regardless of the results of the presidential elections; in his opinion, there is strong bipartisan support for Kyiv in Washington.

“There is strong bipartisan support for Ukraine in the United States. Whoever is elected president, the United States will remain a strong NATO ally,” Stoltenberg said about the possibility of Donald Trump, who is known for his critical attitude towards the alliance, winning the elections in the United States.

Stoltenberg, however, indicated that NATO could play a more prominent role in coordinating Ukrainian military training and transporting equipment, implying the possibility of a scenario in which US involvement was reduced, the newspaper noted.
