The American company Alef Aeronautics, which develops a flying car, was the first in the world to receive an airworthiness certificate for this type of vehicle from the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the company said in a press release.
⠀
Flying car design and development company Alef Aeronautics has announced it has received a special airworthiness certification from the US Federal Aviation Administration, marking the first time a vehicle of its kind has received legal flight clearance from the US government.
⠀
The Model A sports car was unveiled in October last year: an all-electric car capable of moving both on the ground and in the air thanks to the possibility of vertical takeoff and landing, Alef specifies.
⠀
The FAA is currently working on a policy for such vehicles and their interaction with ground infrastructure. For this reason, the government’s certificate limits the locations and destinations for flying in Alef’s car, the company adds.
⠀
Alef Aeronautics was founded in 2015 in Palo Alto, California. The main goal of the company is the creation of a certified passenger car capable of vertical take-off and horizontal flight.
