The United States has announced a moratorium on nuclear testing.

US Deputy Secretary of State Bonnie Jenkins said at a conference to promote the entry into force of the CTBT that Washington is observing a moratorium on nuclear testing and calls on all nuclear powers to immediately declare it.

“The United States continues to maintain a moratorium on the testing of nuclear explosive devices and calls on all nuclear weapons countries to immediately declare or comply with such a moratorium,” Jenkins said.

In August, Russia’s Deputy Permanent Representative in Geneva, Andrei Belousov, said that the United States will sooner or later test its new nuclear warheads; the contents of the Nevada nuclear test site show that they do not intend to stop testing nuclear weapons, despite the unanimous vote on the UN General Assembly resolution on this question.
