The SCO Secretary General spoke about legal cooperation in the organization.

The importance of legal and judicial cooperation within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization is becoming more and more obvious,  SCO Secretary General Zhang Ming said, speaking at the opening of the tenth meeting of the Ministers of Justice of the organization’s member states.


According to Zhang Ming, the international situation is currently undergoing profound and complex changes, turbulence and confrontation are intensifying, and the countries and peoples of the region place special hopes on enhancing the role of the SCO.

“The importance of legal and judicial cooperation as a necessary support and support for interaction in other areas is becoming more and more obvious,” he said.

Zhang Ming noted that at the meeting of ministers of justice there will be an in-depth exchange of views on a wide range of issues on legal cooperation and a joint statement will be adopted, which will “give new impetus to cooperation in this area.”


The tenth meeting of the Ministers of Justice of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization opened on Tuesday in Shanghai.


The SCO is an international organization founded in 2001. It includes India, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Pakistan and Uzbekistan. Observer countries – Afghanistan, Belarus and Mongolia, partner countries – Azerbaijan, Armenia, Cambodia, Nepal, UAE, Turkey and Sri Lanka. At the SCO summit in Samarkand in September 2022, a document was adopted on the start of the procedure for admitting Belarus to the organization.
