Georgia has an ambitious goal – to become a member of the European Union by 2030, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said during a speech at a reception dedicated to Georgia’s Independence Day in Berlin.

“We have a very important national task – joining the European Union. We have an ambitious goal – to make Georgia a member state of the European Union by 2030. Today our children performed the EU anthem in an unusual way, and I am convinced that the future of these children lies in EU,” Kobakhidze said.

According to him, to achieve this goal, the support of partners and countries friendly to Georgia is important.

At the beginning of June, the law “On Transparency of Foreign Influence” came into force in Georgia. Despite massive street protests and warnings from the EU and the US, the Georgian parliament nevertheless passed the law.
⠀
At the same time, the European Union criticizes Georgia after the adoption of the law on foreign agents, threatens to introduce measures due to the adoption of the law, and also declares that they will deny Georgia accession to the EU. Western politicians said the law was contrary to European principles and values.
