The Prime Minister of Bangladesh resigned due to the unrest.

Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned amid the unrest and left the country, News18 reported on the social network X.

“Hasina resigned! She could have left the country and gone to Finland,” the post says.

Previously, it was reported that Sheikh Hasina and her sister left Ganabhaban Palace for a safer place. At the same time, a thousand protesters broke into the prime minister’s residence.

Protests and demonstrations began in Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka and across the country following the announcement of a days-long “non-cooperation drive” with authorities launched by the Students’ Movement Against Discrimination on Sunday.

Clashes between anti-government students, police and government supporters escalated into riots.

The government of Bangladesh has imposed a curfew in Dhaka and other cities of the country from 18.00 local time until further notice. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of the beginning week are declared public holidays throughout the country.
