Turkish police and military cordoned off the perimeter of the headquarters of the ruling Justice and Development Party in Ankara.

Security measures have been stepped up in front of the headquarters building. Police officers and soldiers armed with machine guns stand every 1-2 meters of the cordoned off area. Special forces are sitting in buses nearby.


At the moment, even accredited journalists are not allowed on the territory of the General Staff.

 


According to law enforcement officials, President Tayyip Erdogan is expected to arrive at the headquarters of AK Parti after 19.00. Erdogan’s supporters, who in the first round could expect him to speak near the headquarters, are not yet allowed close to the territory today.
