The number of people injured in an explosion at a pyrotechnics factory in India has risen to 174, NDTV reported.

An explosion at a pyrotechnics plant in the Indian state of Madhya Pradezh occurred on Tuesday. Earlier it was reported about 11 dead and about 60 injured.

The Times of India reported that some people died as a result of the stampede that began after the explosion. According to the publication, the plant operated illegally.

“As a result of the explosion and subsequent fire, 11 people were killed and another 174 were injured,” the TV channel said in a statement.

As reported by NDTV, citing officials, the police detained two owners of the plant. They were charged with manslaughter, among other things.

The cause of the explosion has not yet been established.
