The Lebanese army arrested a group of migrants who tried to sail to Europe.

The Lebanese army detained 130 Syrian migrants and five more Lebanese who were trying to illegally cross the sea towards an unnamed European country, the Lebanese armed forces said.

“An intelligence agency patrol with the support of an army unit in the village of Sheikh Zinad Akkar arrested 130 Syrians and 4 citizens for attempting to illegally cross the sea towards a European country,” the report says.


It is noted that the initiator of the illegal action, who has Lebanese citizenship, was also detained.


An investigation is currently underway.
