The Latvian police reported a call to the Russian embassy because of the parcel.

Latvian police officers were summoned to the Russian embassy in Riga this afternoon because of a suspicious parcel with an unknown substance, spokesman Simona Gravite said on the air of Latvian Radio.

“Today at 13:54 a call was received due to the fact that the Russian embassy may have received a suspicious package containing a substance of unknown origin. Now police and other operational services are working at the scene, an inspection is being carried out,” she said.

It is noted that the call was also received by the State Fire and Rescue Service.

The Russian embassy in Riga said it has not yet commented on this topic.
