The UN was created to promote world peace, but questions arise about its usefulness if it cannot stop the bloodshed in Gaza, the head of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said in a message to the UN General Assembly.

“This crisis (in Gaza) is a serious test for the UN and for you, its member states. This organization was created to strengthen peace in our world. If you, as UN member states, are unwilling or unable to stop this bloodshed, Then we have to ask: what is the United Nations for?” he asked.


Tedros also added that the crisis in Gaza is a crisis for the UN and a crisis for humanity, so “talks, resolutions and statements are not enough.

“We call on you (UN members) to ensure unhindered access for the delivery of humanitarian aid to the civilian population of Gaza,” the WHO head emphasized
