The filling level of gas storages in Germany exceeds 70%, the energy security of the country is guaranteed. This is stated in a report published on Friday by the Federal Network Agency (German regulator).
⠀
“The total filling level of gas storage facilities in Germany is 70.39%,” the regulator informed. “Gas supplies to Germany are currently stable. Germany’s energy security is currently guaranteed,” the report says.
⠀
Nevertheless, the regulator warned that “the situation is tense, and further deterioration cannot be ruled out.”
⠀
The pumping of gas through Nord Stream, as specified in the report, is about 20% of the maximum capacity of the pipeline.
⠀
“If Russian gas supplies via Nord Stream remain at such a low level, then the goal of reaching a 95% filling level of gas storage facilities by November 1 is hardly achievable without taking additional measures,” the regulator states. “The reduction affects gas supplies to other European countries such as France, Austria and the Czech Republic,” he added.
⠀
The paper said wholesale prices have risen sharply as a result of supply cuts and remain high. Businesses and private consumers, according to the regulator, have to adjust to a significant increase in gas prices.
