The Cambodian Electoral Commission announced the official results of the elections.

The National Electoral Commission of Cambodia announced on Saturday the official results of the elections held in the country on July 23, confirming earlier published information about the victory of the ruling People’s Party of Cambodia.

“The official results of the elections are valid from the moment they are announced. I hereby announce to the people of Cambodia the official results of the elections,” the head of the election commission said.

According to the announcement, the People’s Party of Cambodia (formerly the People’s Revolutionary Party of Cambodia), ruling the country alone and as part of coalitions since 1979, received 120 seats in the 125-seat parliament of the country, the remaining 5 parliamentary seats were taken by the royalist FUNCINPEC party, the head of the election committee said in a statement.

Voter turnout at the polling stations was 84.59% of the total number of registered voters in the country, the official announcement of the election results also says.


8,214,430 ballots were dropped into the ballot boxes, of which 440,154 were invalid. 6,398,311 voters voted for CPP and 716,490 votes were cast for FUNCINPEC, the document says.
