Sweden will create in Poland service centers for the equipment transferred to Kyiv.

The Swedish authorities have approved a new package of military assistance to Ukraine, which implies the participation of 60 servicemen of the Swedish Armed Forces in the creation “near Ukraine”, in particular in Poland, of logistics and service centers for the equipment transferred to Kiev.

“The government has given the go-ahead to allow up to 60 members of the armed forces to participate in the establishment of logistics and service centers near Ukraine, for example in Poland,” a local media report said.

Swedish military equipment will be repaired and maintained in these centers. The publication notes that Sweden previously transferred 50 Strf 90 infantry fighting vehicles, Leopard tanks, Archer artillery pieces and RBS 70 air defense systems. The exact number of tanks is not called.

“Of course, it is important that the defense equipment that we send can also be used and achieve an operational effect,” Swedish Defense Minister Paul Jonsson said.

In March, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin announced that Sweden had allocated ten German-made Leopard tanks to Ukraine, and Norway – two NASAMS air defense systems.
