Scholz said that NATO should not become a party to the conflict in Ukraine.

Berlin and Washington, while coordinating their decisions on Ukraine, are making sure that NATO does not become a party to the conflict, said German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, speaking on Thursday in the Bundestag.

Russia has previously sent a note to NATO countries because of the supply of weapons to Ukraine. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted that any cargo that contains weapons for Ukraine will become a legitimate target for Russia. He stated that the US and NATO are directly involved in the conflict in Ukraine, “including not only the supply of weapons, but also the training of personnel.”

“When making each of our decisions, we make sure that NATO does not become a party to the conflict. On this, the American president and I are of the same opinion. To continue our close agreements, I am going to talk with Joe Biden in Washington today,” Scholz said.

He added that “the year of the turn of new times“, which, in his opinion, began with the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine, is also the year of the transatlantic partnership.
