On the territory of one of the contractors of Apple, Quanta Computer in Shanghai, there was a third riot in a month.
⠀
Workers are known to be worried that they are running out of essential supplies due to the prolonged lockdown. Hundreds of plant employees clashed with Quanta security in search of the items they needed.
⠀
Since the beginning of April, the Quanta Computer factory has tightened its working conditions due to another outbreak of COVID-19 in China. So, on May 6, the first riot took place due to the fact that employees were forbidden to leave the territory of the plant and forced to live near their workplaces. As a result, the nerves of the people could not stand it, and they decided to leave the territory of the plant, despite the restrictions.
⠀
Also on May 21, employees of the plant broke into the dormitories where hundreds of Taiwanese specialists lived and chanted slogans such as “down with capitalism” and “return to Taiwan.”
⠀
Coronavirus restrictions began at the end of March and were originally supposed to end by April 12, 2022, but the situation is still tense. Some enterprises were even forced to stop production for two months.
⠀
Quanta mainly manufactures laptops, including the Apple MacBook Pro.
