Polish border guards used water cannons against migrants at the border.

Polish border guards used water cannons against migrants who tried to cross the Polish-Belarusian border, the Border Guard reported on the website.

“On August 11, 106 people tried to illegally enter Poland, in particular, citizens of the Congo, Eritrea. A large group of 40 people, a group of aggressive foreigners, crossed the border on the territory of the border guard station in Dubiche-Tserkevna. One of them had a knife. They threw stones. A Tajfun vehicle with water cannons was sent to the place, crossing the border was prevented,” the border guard of the republic said.

In mid-2021, several thousand migrants accumulated on the Polish-Belarusian border in the hope of getting to the EU countries. The Polish authorities have stepped up border security, pulled in the military and stopped attempts by illegal immigrants to enter the country, blaming Minsk for the migration crisis. Belarus rejects all these accusations, stating that Poland is forcibly expelling migrants to its territory and artificially escalating the situation with refugees.

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko noted that Minsk would no longer hold back the flow of illegal migrants to the EU countries: due to Western sanctions, there is “neither money nor strength” for this.
