North Korea blew up two inter-Korean roads.

The DPRK blew up certain sections of two inter-Korean highways on its side of the border, Yonhap reports citing the South Korean military.

Earlier it was reported that the General Staff of the DPRK Army said that from October 9 North Korea will carry out work to block and interrupt all roads and railways connecting its territory with the “main enemy” South Korea, and will fortify defensive structures, which it notified US troops for collision avoidance.

“North Korea blew up sections of the East and West Highways north of the Military Demarcation Line (MDL) connecting South and North Korea today around noon,” South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said.

The South Korean military has increased surveillance and preparedness, the department noted.

North Korea’s Foreign Ministry said on Friday that South Korea had launched unmanned aerial vehicles over Pyongyang three times since last week – on October 3, 9 and 10 – to distribute leaflets, calling the move a military provocation and a violation of its sovereignty.

Photos North Korea presented as evidence showed an object resembling a drone, believed to have been captured using thermal imaging equipment.

The South Korean military has rejected accusations of sending drones to North Korea, saying nothing of the sort happened.

On September 13, the General Staff of the Korean People’s Army gave the order to bring border artillery formations to full readiness for firing.
