Musk supported calls for Durov’s release.

American businessman Elon Musk supported, through the hashtag #FreePavel, social media users calling for the release of the founder of the Telegram messenger Pavel Durov, who was detained the day before in France.

“#FreePavel,” he wrote on his page on the social network X.

On Saturday evening, French media reported that Telegram founder Pavel Durov was detained at Le Bourget airport. This happened while getting off a private plane, which allegedly arrived from Azerbaijan. According to the French press, Durov, who has French citizenship, was on the list of people wanted in the country. According to her, French justice considers Durov to be involved in crimes for a number of reasons, including due to Telegram’s refusal to cooperate with the country’s authorities.

Telegram channels from all over the world come out in support of Durov: some post videos or photographs of the entrepreneur, others post his quotes. Many posts in the messenger are signed with the hashtag #FREEDUROV. Bots with the same name also appear in the messenger.
