More than 70 people were injured in a bus collision in South Africa.

At least 77 people were injured in a collision between two buses at the entrance to the University of Johannesburg in South Africa, an ambulance official said.

“At least 77 people were injured in a collision between two buses … on Tuesday morning,” the report said.

According to a spokesman for the private ambulance service Emer-G-Med, after the collision, one of the buses overturned, and the second crashed into a concrete structure.

“Several patients suffered injuries ranging from minor to serious. Coordinators at the scene set up a zone to assist the victims, and the Emer-G-Med Emergency Center sent additional resources,” the spokesman said.

The service representative also added that as a result of the accident, several people were locked inside vehicles.

About 19 students were on one of the buses, three of whom were taken to a local hospital for medical treatment, the University of Johannesburg said.

Several more students with minor injuries are being treated at the university’s medical facility.

The university also noted that it takes the safety and well-being of its students seriously and will work closely with the relevant authorities to establish the facts related to the incident.
