The National Democratic Alliance, led by the party of the current Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, won a majority in the parliamentary elections, according to calculations by the NDTV channel.

Elections to the lower house of the Indian Parliament were held in seven phases from April 19 to June 1, and the counting of votes will be completed on June 4. The struggle unfolded for 543 seats in the “house of the people” (Lok Sabha). To win, a party or coalition must achieve a simple majority of 272 seats.

According to the TV channel, according to the calculations of 520 of the 543 seats in parliament, the coalition of the current prime minister receives at least 282 seats.

At the same time, the opposition alliance I.N.D.I.A. (Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance, “Indian National Inclusive Development Alliance”), which includes 28 parties, receives 215 seats, another 24 seats were received by parties that are not part of the ruling or opposition coalition.


According to the exit poll data published on the results of the last round of elections by the NDTV channel, the National Democratic Alliance, led by Prime Minister Modi, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party in India, is in the lead. According to the channel’s calculations, Modi’s coalition wins a majority of the 543 seats in the lower house of parliament – according to preliminary estimates, it will have between 359 and 371 seats.
