The fall of Washington’s main Christmas tree is a perfect summation of Joe Biden’s presidency, according to the House Judiciary Committee, headed by one of former US President Donald Trump’s closest allies, Republican Jim Jordan.
⠀
Earlier it was reported that the wind knocked down the main Christmas tree in Washington, the lights of which were to be ceremonially lit by Biden on Thursday.
⠀
“The National Christmas Tree falls, perfectly summing up Joe Biden’s presidency,” the committee said in a post on social media site X.
⠀
Earlier, the CBS television channel reported that the National Park Service is not sure that it will be possible to save the tree; the condition of the tree has not yet been assessed. It was noted that plans for the ceremonial lighting of lights on the tree opposite the White House on November 30 remain.

The 12-foot Norway spruce arrived in Washington from West Virginia earlier this month.

Biden is the oldest US president, turning 81 on November 20. If he wins the election in 2024, he will be 82 at the time of taking office, and 86 at the end of his second term. The US President himself considers his age to be evidence of experience and insists on the absence of significant health problems. At the same time, those around him regularly take preventive measures to reduce the risk of another fall in public or manifestations of forgetfulness.
