In France, 32 attempts to interfere with the Olympic torch relay were stopped.

The French Interior Ministry has stopped 32 attempts to interfere with the Olympic torch relay since its arrival in Marseille on the evening of May 8,  department head Gerald Darmanin said.

“The Ministry of Internal Affairs prevented 32 attempts to interfere with the relay and two attempts to break through to the Olympic flame. 20 UAVs were neutralized,” he said in an address to journalists posted on his account in X.

“To date, 331 thousand administrative investigations have been carried out, which has led to the identification of 1,193 people with intentions to interfere with the relay. Of these, 30 are on the fiche S list (persons posing a security threat), 13 are far-left, 5 far-right activists, 7 adherents of radical Islam. More one hundred people were suspended from participating in the organization of the Olympic Games, including volunteers,” the minister said.


The Olympic flame must cover a distance of 12 thousand kilometers, pass through 400 cities and arrive in Paris on July 26.

The relay will be opened by 18 runners, one car and 12 motorcycles, mobile police units, an anti-drone vehicle, and a gendarmerie unit. According to the Cnews TV channel, organizing the relay costs the state at least one million euros.


The Paris Olympics will take place from July 26 to August 11.
