Harris leads Trump slightly in voter support, poll shows.

Half of American voters support Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris, according to this indicator she is slightly ahead of Republican rival Donald Trump, who is supported by 45%, according to an Ipsos poll conducted jointly by ABC and the Washington Post.

The poll results show that Harris enjoys the support of 50% of all adult voters, Trump’s result is five percentage points lower. However, among those who have already registered to vote, the gap between Harris and Trump is slightly smaller – 49% versus the same 45%. A majority of those surveyed, 53%, also said they consider Harris more qualified to be president, while only 47% said Trump was more qualified to be president.

If other candidates are on the ballot, which may not happen in all US states, Harris would get 47% and Trump 44%, the poll showed. Independent presidential candidate Robert Kennedy Jr. could count on 5% in this case, a significant drop in support compared to the 12% that the scion of a prominent political dynasty could count on in April. Jill Stein of the Green Party, who advocates stopping arms supplies to Ukraine and Israel, gains 1% in this case, according to the survey data.

It is noted that Harris’s lead in the poll is not statistically significant, as the margin of error is 2 to 2.5 percentage points. The study was conducted online from August 9 to 13 among 2,336 adult US citizens.

The US presidential elections will take place on November 5th. Trump is officially nominated by the Republican Party for the post of head of state. Incumbent Vice President Harris, who has yet to receive a formal nomination from the party at the upcoming convention in Chicago, plans to run as a Democrat.
