The German authorities have agreed to provide Ukraine with additional weapons worth 2.7 billion euros (nearly $3 billion), this will be the largest package of military assistance from Berlin.

The chancellor’s office and other departments agreed during secret negotiations that in the coming weeks and months Ukraine will receive “additional weapons worth about 2.7 billion euros” from Germany.

It is noted that the German government plans to transfer to Ukraine 20 Marder infantry fighting vehicles, 30 Leopard 1 tanks, and up to 200 reconnaissance drones. In addition, deliveries of Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft guns (SPAs), additional IRIS-T air defense systems, as well as additional artillery ammunition and vehicles are planned.

This will be the largest arms package provided to Ukraine by Germany since the start of the Russian military operation in February 2022, the magazine added. According to him, they want to announce a new aid package on Sunday simultaneously with the presentation of the Charlemagne Prize to Vladimir Zelensky in Aachen, Germany. This prize is awarded annually for contribution to the unification of Europe.

Later, the T-online news portal, citing near-government sources in Ukraine, reported that Kiev was disappointed with the disclosure of details of Zelensky’s future visit to Berlin, and the trip could be canceled.
