EU leaders will discuss post-election relations with the United States at an informal summit on November 7-8 in Hungary, a senior European source told reporters in Brussels.

“I expect European leaders to discuss relations with the United States at an informal dinner on Thursday. We have also included the situation in Georgia on the agenda,” he said.

According to the source, “the summit will take place against the backdrop of the US elections, but they will not become the main topic.”

The source also indicated that “there is no consensus among EU leaders regarding Georgia, including the parliamentary elections.”

Earlier, the head of the European Council, Charles Michel, said that the situation in Georgia after the parliamentary elections was included in the agenda of an informal summit meeting of EU leaders in Hungary.

The US presidential elections will take place on November 5th. The Democratic Party will be represented by US Vice President Kamala Harris, and the Republican Party by former President Donald Trump.

Parliamentary elections were held in Georgia on October 26. According to the Central Election Commission, the ruling Georgian Dream party, which advocates maintaining relations with Russia and against anti-Russian sanctions, received 53.93% of the votes. Four opposition parties also entered parliament, receiving a total of 37.78%. Opposition representatives have already stated that they do not recognize the CEC data. Special Coordinator of the short-term OSCE mission Pascal Alizar noted the good organization of the elections in Georgia, while stating a number of violations recorded by observers.
