Beijing hopes that the participants in the grain deal will resolve the issue of food security.

Beijing hopes that the participants in the grain deal can properly address the issue of international food security through dialogue and consultations, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said at a briefing on Tuesday, commenting on the termination of the grain initiative.

The grain deal ended on July 17, Russia will immediately return to its implementation as soon as its Russian part is completed, Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said on Monday. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Russia on Monday notified Turkey, Ukraine and the UN of its objection to extending the grain deal.

“China hopes that the relevant parties can properly address the issue of international food security through dialogue and consultation,” Mao Ning said.

The diplomat added that China is ready to strengthen ties and cooperation with all parties, help build a broader international consensus, and make a positive contribution to global food security.
