Beijing does not intend to interfere in the US elections, the Chinese ambassador assured.

China does not intend to interfere in the upcoming US presidential elections in November and expects a similar approach in response, including with regard to the “Taiwan issue,” Chinese Ambassador to Washington Xie Feng said.

“China wants to be a friend and partner of the United States. We are not playing a game against the United States and do not intend to interfere in its internal affairs, including the upcoming presidential elections,” the diplomat said at a gala reception at the embassy dedicated to the 97th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese People’s Liberation Republic army.

At the same time, he emphasized, Beijing expects a similar approach from Washington, including on the “Taiwan issue,” which remains the main irritant in relations between the two countries.
