The ASEAN-Australia Forum has started its work on Wednesday via videoconference, according to the Vietnam Plus news agency.
Commenting on the start of the 33rd international four, the deputy head of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade Justin Hayhurst reiterated the nation’s commitment to increasing cooperation with the ASEAN.
Earlier, the prime minister announced his decision to support a comprehensive recovery in the region, so, today, Australia informed about the implementation of a 500 million AUD investment package announced in November.
The regional bloc’s members hailed Australia’s commitments and continuing cooperation, as well as the country’s active support to ASEAN’s initiatives in the region.
ASEAN implements its Action Plan for 2020 – 2024
despite the pandemic, ASEAN and Australia continue to implement their Action Plan for 2020 – 2024 with a focus on prioritized sectors. Among them, economy, trade, investment, climate change and development gap narrowing.
Discussing the latest developments in Myanmar, the ASEAN nations called for efforts to ease the situation and ensure people’s safety.
In the economic aspect, regional cooperation helps in maintaining market openness, stabilising supply chain connections, supporting businesses, and accelerating recovery in the post-COVID era.
