An explosion occurred at a railway station in Pakistan, killing people.

At least 20 people were killed and 30 injured in an explosion that occurred at a railway station in the city of Quetta in the Pakistani province of Balochistan, Geo TV channel reported.

“The incident appears to be a suicide bombing, but it is too early to say for sure,”  Senior Superintendent of Police Mohammad Baloch said.

The explosion occurred at the station at around 09:00 local time, when the Jaffer Express train was scheduled to depart from Quetta to Peshawar.
Local authorities say that with several victims in critical condition, the death toll from the explosion could rise.

Balochistan government spokesman Shahid Rind said police and security forces had reached the scene of the incident. He said the nature of the explosion was being investigated and a bomb disposal squad was collecting evidence at the scene. The government official added that a state of emergency has been declared in hospitals.
