Two planes of the Colombian Air Force collided while performing a training mission near the air base in the department of Meta, one of the pilots died, the press service of the air force said.

“The Colombian Air Force regrets to announce that today at 17:28, two T-27 Tucano aircraft on a training mission crashed in the area of ​​Air Combat Command No. 2, located in Apiay, Meta,” the release says.


As a result of the incident, Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Mario Andres Espinosa Gonzalez died. The condition of the second aircraft and the pilot is not reported. The causes of the accident at the scene are investigated by the inspection commission.


In a video that has surfaced on social media, two low-flying squadron aircraft are seen colliding with each other, followed by an explosion and one of them crashing.
