A severe storm hit Mecca.

Wind gusts at speeds of over 80 km/h hit Mecca in Saudi Arabia, knocking people off their feet and overturning heavy metal structures.

“The speed of the winds that hit the holy capital exceeded 80 km / h,” Hussein al-Qahtani, a spokesman for the Saudi National Meteorological Center, wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Video footage shared by local media shows Saudi citizens and foreign pilgrims being blown away by powerful gusts of wind during a thunderstorm. The hurricane also demolished billboards, metal structures, and trash cans.

Against the backdrop of bad weather, the authorities of the province of Mecca in social networks, in turn, announced the transfer of classes in schools, colleges and universities of the kingdom to a remote format.
