The MiG-23 fighter jet crashed at an air show in the US state of Michigan, the pilot and passenger managed to eject, according to the Detroit Capital Airport.

A fighter jet performing at the Thunder Over Michigan show crashed right into the parking lot of a residential complex in the city of Belleville, hitting several cars. The pilot and passenger on board managed to eject. There was no one in the parking lot.

As a result of the incident, no one was injured, but the pilot and passenger of the crashed MiG-23 were taken to the hospital as a “precautionary measure.”

The cause of the crash is unknown. The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has launched an investigation into the circumstances of the incident.

The MiG-23 is a multirole fighter, one of the first production aircraft with variable wing geometry.

Designed to combat enemy aircraft in a wide range of altitudes and flight speeds and perform tasks in the interests of the troops of the operational-strategic formation. Separate modifications of the MiG-23 are capable of hitting ground targets.
