A bomb exploded in the center of Athens.

An explosive device went off in the center of Athens, near the building of the Grand Masonic Lodge of Greece, the country’s public television ERT reported.

“There were no casualties, only material damage was inflicted. The remains of an explosive mechanism were found,” the report says.

The second bomb was defused by a controlled explosion.

A warning call was received prior to the incident.

“During the investigation, a suspicious box was found inside the building, it was checked by specialists from the Office for the disposal of unexploded ordnance. It was found that an explosive device was in the box and a controlled explosion was carried out,” the channel said.

The building of the Masonic lodge is located between Aharnon and Surmeli streets, the explosion occurred at about 06:30 in the morning. The resulting fire was extinguished by firefighters.
