The annual Forbes’ list includes now two stars, David Bowie and Prince–their deaths earlier this year made them even popular. Especially, in the terms of money paid for their music.
Prince ranked number five with an estimated pre-tax income from October 1, 2015 to October 1, 2016, of $25 million (£20.5 million).
The Purple rain star – who died from an overdose at his home, aged 57, on April 21 – has sold more than 2.5 million albums over the past year, more than any other dead musician.

Michael Jackson topped the Forbes’ list of the highest-paid dead artists, despite being dead since 2009, he is the leader of these lists during many years in a row with an estimated income of $825 million (£677 million).
