The French Foreign Ministry opposed the control of the Gaza Strip by a third state

The French Foreign Ministry opposed the control of the Gaza Strip by a third state

The basis of the future of the Gaza Strip should be a Palestinian state, and not control of the territory by a third country, the French Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Earlier, at a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, US President Donald Trump expressed the opinion that residents of the Gaza Strip could be resettled in different countries, including Jordan and Egypt, adding that the United States would “take control” of the Gaza Strip and be responsible for work in the region.

“The future of Gaza should be considered not from the point of view of control by a third state, but within the framework of a future Palestinian state under the auspices of the Palestinian authority,” the French Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

In addition, the Foreign Ministry opposed the forced displacement of the Palestinian population of Gaza.

“France will continue to advocate for the implementation of a two-state solution, the only one that can guarantee long-term peace and security for both Israelis and Palestinians,” the Foreign Ministry added.
