US President Joe Biden, in his farewell address to the nation, expressed gratitude to his family, Americans and members of the administration, calling on his fellow citizens to preserve the country’s core values.

“My deepest gratitude to members of my administration, as well as to service members and first responders across the country and beyond. Thank you for your service. To our service members and their families, it has been my greatest honor to serve as your commander in chief,” Biden said.

Biden also thanked Vice President Kamala Harris, calling her and her husband part of his family. He expressed special gratitude to his wife, Jill Biden: “My deepest gratitude to our incredible First Lady. She was with me in the Oval Office today. To our entire family, to the love of my life and the life of my love, my eternal gratitude.”

Biden concluded by addressing Americans by saying that in his 50 years of service to the country, he remains true to its core ideals: “I still believe in the idea that America stands for – a country where the strength of our institutions and the character of our people matter. and this must be preserved. Now it is your turn to stand guard. Keep the faith, be keepers of the fire.”
