The Iraqi Prime Minister ordered the protection of important installations in the country due to Israeli threats.

Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Iraqi Armed Forces Mohammed al-Sudani ordered air defense forces to protect airspace and important facilities after Israeli accusations against pro-Iranian groups.

Earlier, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar wrote on the social network X that he sent a letter to the President of the UN Security Council asking him to take action against pro-Iranian groups in Iraq that are shelling Israel, noting that the Iraqi government is responsible for what is happening and Israel has the right to self-defense. The Iraqi prime minister then accused Israel of looking for a pretext to attack his country.

“The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces ordered the air defense forces to ensure the requirements for air protection of the skies of Iraq, as well as vital targets within the country,” the prime minister’s order says.

In addition, al-Sudani “instructed the armed forces and all security services to prevent and prosecute any military activity that goes beyond state control.”

He also ordered intelligence agencies to “analyze and monitor any hostile air activity or ground strikes, pursue and report on those who carried them out.”
