The IDF called the operation to retaliate against Iran “Days of Repentance.”

Israel’s operation to attack Iran, which took place on Saturday night, was code-named “Days of Repentance,” Axios correspondent Barak Ravid said on his page on the social network X, citing a briefing by representatives of the Israeli Defense Forces.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Saturday night that it would carry out strikes on military targets in Iran as part of its response to the attacks on the Jewish state on October 1. CBS News, citing a source, reported that the Israeli attack on Iran was limited to military targets and did not extend to nuclear or oil facilities.

“The operation was code-named “Days of Repentance,” Ravid wrote.

In the morning, the IDF announced the end of the attack on Iran, the planes returned safely to Israel. The army named the targets attacked in Iran, among them – surface-to-air missile systems, air defense capabilities, and production sites for missiles that the republic fired into Israeli territory over the past year.

Dozens of fighters, refueling aircraft and reconnaissance aircraft took part in the operation. This is the first ever Israeli military operation on Iranian territory for which the authorities have officially taken responsibility.

The Iranian side, as reported by the Iranian state agency Tasnim, citing a high-ranking source, is ready to respond to Israel.
