The Turkish gas hub could be useful for Serbia, Vulin said.

The Turkish gas hub can be useful for the Serbian economy, because its launch means a new source and route for gas supplies,  Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Vulin said.

“Possibly. If a new source of gas appears, a new gas pipeline line, we hope that this can be very useful for our economy. And also for investments in Serbia,” Vulin said during the BRICS summit, answering a related question.

He added that Western investment in Serbia is due to the fact that the country has constant, reliable, transparent and cheap gas supplies.

“And for us this is really important. We will not make the same mistake as European countries. And with the new gas line we will be even more (energy ) secure. And one of the reasons why we are so protected is that “that we have relations with Russia, friendly fraternal relations. I hope that this will be good news from an economic point of view,” the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized.

Vulin added that he does not understand Germany’s policy in this context.

“They built their economy on the supply of cheap gas from Russia. And now they have stopped this. What is the economic reason? Why is this economically logical? They destroyed Nord Stream, and they said nothing. Now the German economy is suffering because of this. Because that gas supplies are no longer cheap, stable and safe. So Serbia will not make a similar mistake,” the Serbian Deputy Prime Minister said.
