The Prime Minister of Georgia accused the President of interfering in the electoral processes.

Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze accused the President of the Republic Salome Zurabishvili of interfering in the electoral processes, which is contrary to the country’s legislation.

The day before, Zurabishvili called for the unification of the Strong Georgia and Gakharia for Georgia parties and invited their leaders to her palace for consultations.

“According to the Constitution of Georgia, the president must be non-partisan. This means… that she should not interfere in the electoral processes. This, of course, is a gross violation of electoral principles,” the prime minister said at a briefing.

Parliamentary elections will be held in Georgia on October 26.
