Israel has denied access to 125 humanitarian missions in the Gaza Strip since early August, according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in the Occupied Palestinian Territories.

According to the agency, 147 humanitarian missions were planned in northern Gaza, but Israel rejected 46 of them. According to the department, 278 missions were supposed to arrive in the south of the enclave, but Israeli authorities rejected 79 of them.

According to Israeli data, Hamas still has 109 hostages in captivity, about 40 of whom are considered dead. During various operations and humanitarian efforts, 146 people were freed from Hamas captivity, this figure includes the dead hostages whose bodies were removed from the enclave.

On October 7, 2023, Israel was subjected to an unprecedented rocket attack from the Gaza Strip. After this, fighters from the Palestinian Hamas movement entered the border areas, opened fire on military and civilians, and took more than 250 hostages. According to authorities, about 1.2 thousand people died.

The Israel Defense Forces launched Operation Iron Swords in the Gaza Strip, which included attacks on civilian targets. Israel announced a complete blockade of the enclave: supplies of water, electricity, fuel, food and medicine were stopped. According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, the death toll in Israeli strikes on the enclave since October 7 has exceeded 40.2 thousand, and more than 93.1 thousand people have been injured.
