Macron is discussing the possibility of his resignation with those around him.

French President Emmanuel Macron is discussing with his entourage the possibility of his resignation as he calls elections to the National Assembly (lower house of parliament), radio station Europe 1 reports, citing sources.

“The resignation of the president is not taboo. Yes, all options need to be considered… He is ready to sacrifice the end of his presidential term,” the media quotes a source from the president’s entourage.

It is noted that Macron discussed this scenario with a person from his circle in recent weeks. It is not preferable, but it could serve as a “dramatization” before the upcoming elections.

It is claimed that Macron could also agree to co-rule with the right-wing National Rally party if they win parliamentary elections, in order to “let them fail happily” until the next presidential election in 2027.
After the preliminary results of the European Parliament elections in France were announced on Sunday, according to which the right-wing National Rally party was more than twice as ahead of the coalition of Macron supporters, the French leader announced the dissolution of the National Assembly and the holding of early parliamentary elections in two rounds – on June 30 and July 7 .
