Seven people were rescued from the rubble of a collapsed building in Istanbul.

Rescuers managed to extract seven people from the rubble of a collapsed house in Istanbul, two more remain under the rubble; an explosion has been ruled out as the cause of the collapse, Istanbul provincial governor Davut Gul said on Sunday.

A four-story residential building collapsed on Sunday morning for an as yet unknown reason in the Küçükçekmece district in western Istanbul, leaving people trapped under the rubble.

“Rescuers rescued seven people from the rubble, two of them are in serious condition. An operation to rescue two more people is underway,” Gul told reporters.

According to him, the building was built in 1988, and there was a store on the ground floor.

“We found no signs of an explosion after the collapse of the house, this is excluded,” Gul said when asked about the possible cause of the collapse.

The governor noted that the Istanbul prosecutor’s office will check the circumstances of the incident.
