Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a telegram to Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi on Thursday and expressed condolences for those killed in the terrorist attack, China Central Television reported.

“I was shocked to learn that a large-scale terrorist attack occurred in Kerman province, which resulted in significant loss of life. On behalf of the Chinese government and people, I express my deep condolences for the victims, my sincere condolences to the injured and the families of the victims,” ​​Xi Jinping wrote.

The Chinese leader noted that China opposes all forms of terrorism, strongly condemns terrorist attacks, and supports Iran’s efforts to ensure national security and stability.

Explosions occurred on Wednesday in the city of Kerman in southeastern Iran during a funeral procession in connection with the fourth anniversary of the death of General Qasem Soleimani of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC, the elite units of the Iranian Armed Forces). According to the Iranian Tasnim agency, the explosions were carried out remotely: two bags with explosives were located near the entrance to a cemetery in the city of Kerman.

Iranian Minister of Health and Medical Education Bahram Einollahi confirmed the death of 95 people as a result of the explosions. According to data published in the media before the minister’s statement, the death toll reached 103 people, and another 211 were injured.
