Chile has called for urgent UN reform following the US veto of the Gaza resolution.

Chilean President Gabriel Boric said on social media X that reform of the United Nations (UN) is urgently needed after the US vetoed a ceasefire resolution in the Gaza Strip.

“There is an urgent need for structural reform of the UN. The world is no longer the same as it was in 1945,” he wrote.

Earlier, the United States in the UN Security Council vetoed a UAE draft resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, as well as the release of all hostages without preconditions. Great Britain abstained from voting. The remaining 13 members of the Security Council voted in favor. The document was co-authored by at least 97 UN members.
