The EU has stated its desire for stable and mutually beneficial ties with China.

The EU has stated its desire for stable and mutually beneficial ties with China.

The head of the European Council, Charles Michel, said at the summit that the EU strives for a “stable and mutually beneficial” relationship with China.

“We are united in our commitment to establishing a stable and mutually beneficial relationship with China,”  Michel said in Beijing at the China-EU summit.


Michel added that the bloc would like to establish ties with China based on “the principles of transparency, predictability and reciprocity.”


On Thursday, a China-EU summit will be held in Beijing, where China will be represented by Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang, and the EU will be represented by the head of the European Council Charles Michel, the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, as well as the head of EU diplomacy Josep Borrell.
